PetChoiceGuide ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at https://petchoiceguide.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Information we collect
We collect two types of information:
- Usage data collected automatically. When you visit our site, standard web server logs and analytics tools record information such as your IP address (anonymised), browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and time spent on each page. We use Google Analytics 4 for this purpose (see section 4 below).
- Information you provide voluntarily. If you contact us by email, we receive the email address and any details you include in your message. We do not currently operate a newsletter, comments section, or user accounts.
2. How we use your information
We use the information collected to:
- Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and navigation.
- Monitor site performance and diagnose technical issues.
- Respond to enquiries you send us directly.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. Cookies
Our site uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to enable analytics and remember preferences. The cookies placed on our site fall into two categories:

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site; disabling affiliate cookies will not affect the prices you pay.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised usage statistics. Google Analytics sets cookies to identify unique sessions and report on page views, traffic sources, and user behaviour in aggregate. We have enabled IP anonymisation so that no full IP addresses are stored by Google on our behalf.

5. Affiliate links and third-party sites
PetChoiceGuide participates in affiliate programmes, including:
- Awin (and merchants within the Awin network, including Petcube)
- Impact (and merchants including Chewy, Petco, and others)
- CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction, and merchants within the CJ network)
When you click an affiliate link, you will be redirected to the merchant's website. We may earn a commission if you subsequently make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.
These third-party sites have their own privacy policies that govern how your data is collected and used once you leave our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party website.
6. Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. Email correspondence is kept only as long as necessary to address your enquiry and is then deleted.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights under applicable privacy law (such as the GDPR in the European Union, or the CCPA in California), including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you.
Because we collect very limited personal data (primarily anonymised analytics), most of these rights are unlikely to apply in practice. If you have a specific request, please contact us at contact@petchoiceguide.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's privacy
Our site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
